The Cross has now closed. Forever. 'Tis a dark time.
Regarding: Best coffee in Rome
The coffee was fabulous, but we felt a bit stupid standing at the bar wondering why the baristo studiously ignored us for 5 minutes. When we finally asked him for coffee he gesticulated (our Italian is not that great) and we understood that we had to go around the corner and pay for our coffee at the till first, and then bring him a ticket. It was worth the wait, but if you are jonesing for that cafe, remember to get your ticket first, to avoid delay!

Regarding: Let off steam Bulgarian style
The Bulgarian Bar (real name Mehanata), long loved by native New Yorkers, got shut down at the Canal St location in 2006. But it lives on in a new venue at 113 Ludlow St (Cross Street: Between Rivington Street and Delancey Street) http://newyork.citysearch.com/profile/41930853/new_york_ny/mehanata.html[Mehanata]

So true! Best Cheesecake in the city!
Regarding: The Edinburgh Fringe Festival
The theatre can be very hit and miss but the late night comedy is usually hilarious. Just hanging out in the various squares and beer gardens on a warm summer's night is plenty fine enough too!
