San Francisco has just one outdoor beer garden: Zeitgeist, at Valencia and Duboce. This is primarily a biker bar, although a lot of indie kids make the scene as well. Come early to avoid the line at the door and wear your leathers to avoid the chef spitting in your (excellent) burger. The staff is surly, the clientele is occasionally snobbish, but the beer selection is great and everyone's your friend after a few pitchers.

I also hear Tarantino was recently spotted knocking back a few pints on one of the benches. Unfortunately, in order to be cool enough to hang out here you also have to be cool enough to totally ignore any celebrities you might see. You have been warned.
