Though smallish, Dog Eared Books in the Mission District is one of the best bookstores in the city. The staff is knowledgeable, the bargain bin outside is full of surprisingly great finds (Henry James for $2.50, four Wonder Woman comics for $3), and the aisles are tiny and dim, perfect for clandestine snuggling over the latest Michael Chabon.
