The view from the top

Couples who aren't afraid of a little exertion shouldn't miss a trip to the top of Coit Tower. This rather phallic monument is filled with authentic art deco murals, and has one of the best views of the city waiting at the top. Legend has it the tower was bequeathed to the city by Lily Hitchcock Coit as a tribute to the SF Fire Department -- the design is supposed to imitate a fireman's hose -- but ask around and you might find the locals have a few more colorful theories.
