Some claim Tartine is the best bakery in the city. Others vote for Miette. However, those of us lucky enough to live in the Castro vote for Sweet Inspiration every time. Unlike many of the city's gourmet bakeries, Sweet Inspiration focuses their genius on dessert foods like cakes and tarts rather than breakfasty items like pastries, which makes it the perfect place to go after dinner at one of the restaurants in the 'hood. You can usually find a table if you want to relax with your food and check out the paintings by local artists on the walls. Or just take your enormous slab o'cake to go. I especially recommend the chocolate noisette and the chocolate mousse cake.
