Get it all out at the Porchester Hall Baths

Sundays afternoons are a joy at the Porchester Spa. Single sex for most of the week, on Sundays it is mixed (you have to have a partner, no unattended spare lads or lasses allowed). They have all the things a proper bath house needs: sauna, steam rooms, jacuzzi and freezing plunge pool, but the best thing, which sets it apart from other places, is the series of progressively hotter rooms (the fridgidarium, tepidarium and caldarium) where you can lounge and read a book for as long as you like (but note, the pages will get soggy in the caldarium).

When you have steamed and sweated all the toxins out of your body and need to have a rest before starting again, you can repair upstairs where the marble floor is heated and you can lie around on loungers with the papers and get tea and sandwiches.

It's a hidden gem of a spot that will leave you both feeling fabulous.
